Breakfast, Lunch and Snacks
- Open to children ages 5-18 who are in elementary, middle
or high school full-time. In order to qualify for a free or reduced price school meal you must complete the School Meals Application provided by your child's school.
- Your family income must be at or below 130% of poverty
for free meals OR at or below 185% of
poverty for reduced-price meals (see
charts below.)
- A full lunch
is available in all Massachusetts schools. Full breakfast is
available in about 60% of schools.
- Snacks may be available in after school programs that provide educational or enrichment activity.

The income requirements for school meals and food stamps are similar.
- If your child gets free or reduced price school meals,
it is very likely that your household will qualify for
food stamps.
- If you get food stamps, your child automatically
qualifies for free school meals.
- Even if you don’t qualify for food stamps, your
child might still qualify for free or reduced price school
meals.

Summer Food Program
- The Summer Food Progam is open to children ages 18 and under.
- It is in the summertime only.
- It provides free breakfast, lunch or snacks at summer sites in
certain communities.
How do I apply for the Summer Food Program?
- Unless otherwise noted, sites are open and no application
is necessary. Simply show up.
